1. Used as a bleach

Oxalic acid is mainly used as reducing agent and bleaching agent, used in the production of antibiotics and other drugs as well as the extraction of rare metals solvents, dye-reducing agent, tannin.

Oxalic acid can also be used in the production of cobalt-Molybdenum-aluminum catalysts, in the cleaning of metals and marbles and in the bleaching of textiles.

It is used for metal surface cleaning and treatment, rare earth element extraction, textile printing and dyeing, leather processing, catalyst preparation.

2. Used as a reducing agent

In the organic synthesis industry, oxalic acid is mainly used to produce hydroquinone, pentaerythritol, cobalt oxalate, nickel oxalate, gallic acid and other chemical products.

In plastic industry, it is used in the production of polyvinyl chloride, amino plastics, urea-formaldehyde plastics, lacquers.

In dyestuff industry, it is used to make salt base green.

In printing and dyeing industry, it can replace acetic acid and be used as chromogenic aid and bleaching agent for pigment dyes.

In pharmaceutical industry, it is used to produce aureomycin, oxytetracycline, streptomycin.

In addition, oxalic acid can also be used to synthesize various oxalates, oxalates, oxalides and other products, of which diethyl oxalate, sodium oxalate and calcium oxalate are the most productive.

3. Used as a mordant

Antimony oxalate is used as a mordant and ammonium ferric oxalate is used to print blueprints.

4. Used for derusting

Oxalic acid can be used to remove rust. But be careful when using, oxalic acid on stainless steel has a strong corrosive. High concentrations of oxalic acid can also corrode hands. And the acid oxalate is very soluble, but has some toxicity. Don't eat or drink while using it.

After skin contact oxalic acid, should be promptly washed with water.
