Products Description

Cream of Tartar5

Sodium tartrate is distinguished by its exceptionally high water solubility and excellent complexing ability. With a solubility of 65g/100mL in water (at 20°C)-far exceeding other salts in the tartrate family-it rapidly forms concentrated solutions. As a complexing agent, it forms stable soluble complexes with various metal ions (such as copper, iron, and aluminum), making it invaluable in electroplating for maintaining bath stability and in analytical chemistry for masking interfering ions. Additionally, in the food industry, it serves as additive E335, functioning as both an acidity regulator and an emulsifying salt. This dual capability-high solubility combined with strong metal-binding properties-makes it an indispensable auxiliary agent across diverse industrial applications.

Tartarium is a widely used acidity regulator and stabilizer in food. As a leavening agent, it is one of the main components of cream of tartar. In baking, it is paired with baking soda to provide rapid and even leavening for cakes, cookies, quick breads, etc. This reaction does not require yeast fermentation, so it is often used in the production of instant leavened foods. In the pharmaceutical industry, it can be used as a mild laxative. In the cosmetics industry, it can be used as a pH adjuster and stabilizer in toothpaste and mouthwash. In some skin lotions, it acts as a chelating agent to prevent metal ions from causing product spoilage.
